Abstract
At present, there are a few problems in overseas journalism and communication history research field: few representative achievements, narrow vision, barren method and insufficient theory. Reviewing the specific topics in the academic history, it is clear that the core reason for the dilemma of contemporary overseas journalism and communication history research lies in the lack of domain subjects. According to the opening speech spirit of Xi Jinping, this paper puts forward four question orientations of the study of overseas history, and discusses the realistic conditions for the deepening and development of the study of foreign history including historical materials, historical views, and historical methods, and believes that overseas journalism and communication history should wash fresh historical materials, expand historical views, and innovate historical methods under appropriate problem orientations. Based on above, considering the time when the world situation is becoming more complex and the validity of interpretation of modernization plans in the western world is increasingly challenged, China's overs journalism and communication history research also should carry out some specific historical missions. It is not only a necessary way to tell a good story about China, but also a key link to build a modern global information order in China, and an essential basement to the development of the journalism and communication discipline which could give a brand new interpretation of human history.
