he newspaper reading group was one of the important tools for the CCP to contact the rural society during the Yan’an period. Its flexible form, collective participation and wordofmouth characteristics met the media needs of the CCP to transmit its ideology and socialize it. From the perspective of Mediology, the newspaper reading group in Yan’an period has both technical attributes and social organizational attributes. The interaction and connection of this dual attributes, that was, the intermediary behavior of the newspaper reading group, not only mediated Partymass Relations, realized the social dissemination of CCP ideology and the transformation of material power, but also gave the Yan’an newspaper reading group itself symbolic value, making it become the value bearer of “Running newspaper by the whole party and the masses”. This kind of intermediary behavior was mainly reflected in the cultivation and transformation of journalists by educational institutions in Yan’an period, the institutionalization construction of newspaper reading group by the Communist Party of China, the skillful integration of text and reading technology by newspaper readers, and the arbitrary selection of geographical places for reading newspapers.From the perspective of Mediology, this paper aimed to get rid of the shackles of revolutionary teleology, and restored as far as possible the functional attributes of the media form “newspaper reading group” under specific historical conditions and the whole process of transforming into social forces.
